This auction is for a vintage JBL SA-600 Solid State Integrated Amplifier of exceptional quality. The JBL SA-600 is a large, powerful, and attractive unit, rated conservatively at 40 watts per channel. Like a few other amplifiers of its time, the SA-600 was claimed to have unmeasurably low distortion within its rated power. Unlike most of them however, it lived up to this claim.
THIS AMP SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It truly rivals the sound of a great tube amp. Both channels are warm, detailed, clear, airy, fat, and every other word you would use to describe STUNNING sound! This amp would be a perfect complement to any JBL speaker system from the 50's and 60's. The SA-600 has been professionally serviced and checked out by our technician and is now working like new! The controls are all working properly, with smooth and quiet pots and good solid switches.
The features on this amp are superb. The location of the inputs on this unit is interesting because they are on the bottom, out of site. In addition to the normal functions you would typically find on an integrated amplifier, the SA-600 has a special TEST switch that provides a sensitive method of aurally balancing all inputs for equal channel gain. The amplifier has extremely high gain on all inputs, coupled with an uncanny quietness and very low noise and hum, especially on the phono inputs. The SA-600 was originally sold with optional wood side panels, and they are included with this unit.
Using the JBL SA-600 is the quickest way to become convinced of its merit. It is absolutely noise-free, has no switching transients or crosstalk, and delivers more power than most users will ever require. It would be difficult to imagine a more satisfying amplifier for the most discriminating listener. Here is your chance to own a very rare, collectible piece from JBL - in perfect working condition.
