What we have here is a Polk MW 6503 mid-woofer driver. I
have a total of three of these listed, all out of a pair of 1985 & 1986 Monitor
10B’s (the cabinets were tired, the grill frames shot, and one driver was bad).
At various times, these drivers were used in a number of other Polk speakers, including
some RTA-15TL's and various SDA’s. They are also considered by Polk Audio to be an
"acceptable" replacement for the MW6500, MW 6501, and MW6600X.
Important: Polk Audio was known to make frequent changes to its
driver compliment in various models, so normally the exact correct driver usage
is established by actual inspection (and hoping that no one has made a prior
substitution). Substituting one model driver for another is always a compromise
at best, so I strongly recommend the buyer verify this driver as the correct unit
to fulfill his/her needs. I will not be responsible for buyers who guess at
their needs!
As you are probably aware, these vintage drivers were
notorious for magnet structure/pole piece shift, causing voice coil drag, pinch,
or even lock. All of these mid-woofers function fine; there are no hints of any
issues. Unless otherwise directed I will put some dots of epoxy on the magnet
and pole pieces to help secure them in place. This, along with my packing,
should be sufficient for getting the driver(s) to the buyer, but I strongly
recommend a more comprehensive epoxy job before use.
Note that #3 has a bit of a white "stain" on the edge of the dustcap (could be easily disguised), and that the label on the back came off during handling for pictures.
The markings on the backs (DCR and driver location on the original cabinets) were present when I acquired the drivers.
Oh, and by the way, there is no extra charge for the lint on
the driver cone…
I am sorry to report that due to non-paying “buyers” in the
past, I have had to institute a policy of immediate payment for my Buy-it-Now
listings. That said, I will happily do a combined shipping discount where
practical. Please read on…
Shipping: Local pickup is always free. I make no profit on
my shipping. I refund the excess charges if they exceed $2, and I absorb any
shipping undercharges (the norm). If you want to make a multiple item purchase,
you can email me a request to relax the immediate pay requirement, just please
realize someone else might purchase the item before I read your email.
Otherwise, you can go ahead and make the purchases, and I will refund you the
excess shipping.

Looks like #2 is sold...
#1 is now gone also; # 3 is the only one left.
