Up for auction we have a Western Electric TA-7257 Dividing Network (crossover). This early 1935 vintage crossover was designed for use with the legendary Western Electric Mirrorphonic theater sound system, as offered by Electrical Research Products, Incorporated (ERPI). This is the earlier (and rarer) of the two VERY SCARCE models of three-way crossovers made by Western Electric. It was originally designed for use with the TA-4184 low frequency receiver (woofer), a midrange horn with a western Electric 555 or 594 driver, and a multicellular high-frequency horn with with either the Western Electric 597 or 596 driver.
This network consists of a Kearny specifications enclosure, a Western Electric TA-4152 Retard Coil (choke), a Western Electric 7A Autotransformer, Western Electric 139A 2MFD condenser, Western Electric 137A 4MFD condenser, 2 Western Electric ASA-1230 resistors, and an ASP-871 Issue Z wiring diagram.
The use of this crossover (dividing network) is fully discussed in Yamanaka and nashima's seminal treatise "WESTERN ELECTRIC SOUND", which is availble from Stereo Sound Publishing.
