KRELL KSA-250
STEREO POWER AMPLIFIER
Serial #13-07433
My father was a committed audiophile throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's. I've been slowly selling off his entire collection of sound reproduction equipment.
Here for auction is another one of his state-of-the-art amplifiers: Krell's classic powerhouse from the 90's; the KSA-250. It has all solid state class-A circuitry with balanced or regular inputs. Speaker outputs are set up for bi-wired connections (4 wires/channel) but have jumpers for conventional 2 wire/channel connection.
This was the quintessential "muscle"amp designed by the brilliant Dan D'Agostino to drive highly resistive speaker loads. The cylindrical power transformer alone is enormous.
The KSA-250 will deliver 500 watts/channel into 4 ohms, 1000 watts/channel into 2 ohms, and 2000 watts/channel into 1 ohm. It's capable of driving impedances below 1 ohm!
The amp worked perfectly when it was removed from my father's sound room recently. However, I can't guarantee original factory specifications - this is a ~20 year old amp, so expect some wear and tear.
This amp is heavy (~140lbs) and bulky (dimensions are 8.5" high x 19" wide x 21.5" deep - add 2.5" of depth for front and rear handles).
Because of its size, I strongly recommend pick-up at my plant outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, for shipment purposes, the winning bidder is welcome to contact a crating & shipment company (such as Craters and Freighters - www.cratersandfreighters.com) to schedule crating and shipment of the amp from my business facility in North Wales, PA. Of course, this will be done at the buyer's expense and I will not be responsible for any damage caused in packaging or shipment.
